COUN 560: Social and Cultural Diversity

This is the libguide for the counseling course, COUN 560 (Social and Cultural Diversity).

Writing services available at DMU are as follows:

  • APA Academic Writer
  • Grammarly Premium
  • Tutor.com
  • SimCheck

Students at Divine Mercy University are required to submit papers using APA Style. The 7th edition of Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association is available for purchase.

It is highly recommended that students use the services available to them, as DMU students, in the following order: Academic Writer, Grammarly Premium, Tutor.com, and the SimCheck plagiarism software tool.

Grammarly Premium

Once you have completed writing your paper, or simply have a draft of the final product, use Grammarly Premium in order to check spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. Grammarly provides suggestions which you have the option of accepting or ignoring.

Tutor.com

Once you have completed your paper, essay, etc. in APA Academic Writer, you have the format and the APA Style taken care of. Once you have submitted your paper through Grammarly Premium and have updated the spelling, grammar, and punctuation changes, you have the option of submitting your paper for review or connecting with a live tutor to review your work for flow and style.

Tutor.com allows students to access tutors in the subjects of Live Writing Help, with Statistics, or other topics. Tutors are available 24 hours, 7 days a week. There is an option for submitting a paper for review. When submitting a paper for review, a tutor will review your paper and provide a response within 24 hours. It is recommended that you submit papers or connect with a tutor well in advance of the due date for your assignment.

Plagiarism Software

DMU students have access to SimCheck Plagiarism software. SimCheck assists students in determining whether citations or attribution has been properly considered when included in a paper. Once a paper is submitted through SimCheck, the software attempts to match any text included in the paper to determine whether it has been properly cited. No plagiarism software tool is 100% accurate. Keep this in mind when viewing the report for the paper that you submit. This service is provided to students who have concerns about accurate citing and original content for papers. The SimCheck software is made available for student use before submitting assignments for courses.

All of these resources are linked to the Writing Resource Center course within Canvas. All students are invited to this course page within Canvas shortly after admittance to a program at DMU. The invitation will be visible in on the dashboard in Canvas. Access to this course will not go away as long as a student is enrolled in the university.
